Engage
Techspressionism isn’t something you join. It’s something artists are building together, out in the open, since 2020. There are no members, dues, or applications. If you use technology to express emotional experience, the work is already yours to shape, and you can take part as much or as little as you like.
“You’re a Techspressionist when you say you are”.
It helps to picture it in layers, like an onion. On the outside are the artists who share work with the hashtag #techspressionism, now about 87k Instagram posts. Closer in is the community, the artists who come to the Salons regularly and help steer what happens next. Alongside them is the Techspressionist Visual Artist Index, a curated list of artists working with technology. The Index is by invitation and, like everything else here, free. Artists who use the hashtag are eligible for consideration.
Here’s how to get involved, step by step.

STEP ONE // ATTEND A SALON
The Salons are where the shaping happens. Once a month, artists meet in a shared place in cyberspace to talk about art, philosophy, and technology, much like the Surrealist salons of the 1920s. We meet on Zoom on the first Thursday of every month at noon Eastern Time, and artists can present work in the recorded sessions.
Each Salon is moderated by a rotating panel of volunteer artists, because Techspressionism is a 100% volunteer-based international artist community. After the recording stops, the afterparty (also known as the advisory board meeting) picks the next Salon’s topic and talks through ideas for the community. Anyone who stays has a say.
To get each invitation, join the mailing list below. You’ll also hear about shows, newly published artist interviews, and open calls. We never share your information with third parties, and you can unsubscribe anytime.

STEP TWO // CO-WORK ON TUESDAYS
Every Tuesday at noon Eastern Time, artists meet on Zoom to make work side by side: a quick round of intentions, an hour of independent work, and an optional share-out that has grown into a regular group critique. It’s free, it’s peer-run with a different participant facilitating each week, and it hasn’t missed a week since July 2023. Bring finished work, work in progress, or just the hour you want to protect for making art.
STEP THREE // SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE
Salons are recorded. Subscribe to the Techspressionism YouTube channel to watch them and keep up between meetings.

STEP FOUR // USE THE HASHTAG
If you use technology to express yourself, add #techspressionism when you post your artwork, so curators can find it. Tag @techspressionism and we can share it with our followers. The hashtag is how Techspressionism has spread to 50 countries since 2020. Using it is also what makes you eligible for consideration for the Techspressionist Visual Artist Index.
Then send the tagged post as a DM to @techspressionism on Instagram, where our community Instagram curator, Renata Janiszewska, reviews it.
Follow along on Instagram and X, and share your work, ideas, and events in the Techspressionists Facebook group.
