Lihting Lily Li Kostrzewa is a contemporary fine artist who specializes in cross-cultural acrylic and mix-media painting. Lily, a Taiwan-born artist, her style of painting is lush, imaginative and cultural with simple brush strokes exhibited complicate layers of colors. Lily now lives and paints in New York City, her artwork has been exhibited in Spain, Germany, France, Ukraine, Jordan, Taiwan, Austria, Canada, Greece, Italy, China, South Korea, Japan and many states in the USA.

Through a lifetime of learning in different medium of art, she has an MFA degree in Modern Painting, an MA degree in Computer Graphics and an BFA degree in Chinese Art. Her color is expressive and her brush strokes on her painting are rooted in her native culture and the years of training in painting. She hopes to bring her Chinese perspective to modern painting and marry them into a cross-cultural uniqueness. Lily’s paintings have been exhibited in 30 solos and many group exhibitions around the world.

ST Rivera makes art that stirs the imagination and demands observation. Rivera is traditionally an illustrator, creating highly detailed work made with obsessive repetition. Her artistic practice evolved in 2021 with her introduction to NFTs + blockchain technology, and collaborations with artists outside of her discipline. Her performance art collaborations with Prïnce Magnølïa, which consisted of creating and minting art + poetry live on the social media application Clubhouse, explored humanity’s relationship with technology past, present, and future. Using mediums both traditional + emerging, ST Rivera’s work is developing a narrative that further explores the subconscious, the human condition, and its evolution with technology.

My digital art is the next step in the long tradition of art. My pixels are my Lascaux. Animals on cave walls are now neural network induced marks deciphering modern physics. My sigils calling in the gods are found in the underlying code of software programs that inspire my creativity. My art is about contemplation; of seeing ourselves in the abstract and surreal beauty of a universe too often beyond our imagination. A beauty in supercollider collisions, a crawling ant, and a spiral galaxy.

Techspressionist Salons are bi-weekly artist meetups where artists can present their work and discuss matters relating to art and technology. They are attended by artists listed in our Techspressionist Visual Artists Index and are also open to interested individuals on our mailing list. The First Techspressionist Salon was held on September 1, 2020, and included artists Colin Goldberg, Patrick Lichty, Steve Miller and Oz Van Rosen, as well as group advisor Helen Harrison.  During this session, the working definition of Techspressionism was decided upon by the participants as: “An artistic approach in which technology is utilized as a means to express emotional experience.”
